Hello, I'm Katy

I have worked for the Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada since 2018.  I have been working with children and adults with disabilities since I was 14 when my best friend, who is blind, recommended I start that career path.  That simple suggestion sent me on a path that I have become more passionate about than I ever thought imaginable.  I have since founded the Family Service Coordination Program for the Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada after I noticed a gap in services.  Since then, my job has included supporting families in securing and navigating the wealth of services offered in Northern Nevada.  Each family receives a service plan tailored to their specific needs, along with accountability and advocacy along the way.  I truly love what I get to do every day.

 

Outside of my career with the Down Syndrome Network of Northern Nevada, I love to bake, go to the gym and spend time with my husband and Siberian husky.  My husband and I are huge foodies and have rated every cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory, along with our brother and sister-in-law (it took 2 years, but our commitment led to an extensive spreadsheet!  And yes, we have a winner). I love living in Northern Nevada and exploring what Reno has to offer.
